8 Must-Have Travel Items That Make Every Trip Better

I’ve loved traveling for as long as I can remember. It started when I was younger, playing competitive volleyball. Every weekend was a new tournament, whether somewhere in California or an out-of-state road trip. Since then, I’ve pretty much been on the go nonstop and genuinely love discovering new places. (One of my life goals is to visit all 50 states!)
So without further ado, here are my must-have items I always pack when I travel.
The hype is real. Packing cubes keep your suitcase organized, help maximize space, and make it easy to find things without digging. I like separating by outfit, type of clothing, or even by day if I’m going somewhere with a busy itinerary. Bonus: unpacking is so much faster when everything has its place.
What to look for: Lightweight, durable fabric, and a few different sizes.
This is one of those things you forget once and never again. Whether you're navigating in a new city or stuck in an airport, a good portable charger saves the day. The compact ones are great for your purse or pocket, and the larger ones can charge multiple devices at once.
What to look for: At least 10,000 mAh capacity and USB-C compatibility.
Different countries, different plugs. Instead of buying a separate adapter for each destination, grab a universal adapter with built-in USB ports. It’s one of those small but mighty items you’ll always be glad you packed.

No more digging for your toothpaste at the bottom of your bag. A hanging toiletry bag keeps your products visible and accessible, especially in tiny bathrooms. I love ones that have clear compartments and can hook onto towel bars.

This one is a quiet MVP. Whether you're shopping at a local market, need a beach bag, or find yourself overpacking on the way home, a foldable tote takes up almost no space and adds serious flexibility to your travel kit.

What about how to store all these items?
I always try to pack light, sticking to just a backpack and a carry-on roller bag no matter the destination or length of the trip. Here are my current favorites and honest thoughts:

Tons of pockets, including a padded one in the back for a laptop or iPad
Secret lower back pocket for valuables like a wallet or passport
Dedicated shoe compartment (which I didn’t know I needed until I had it)
Cons:
My first one broke when I tightened the side straps—probably my fault from overpacking
If you get a lighter color, it gets dirty pretty easily
This is my go-to for short weekend trips or when I want something cute and comfy to carry.

Super soft and easy to carry
Stylish and functional for quick getaways
Cons:
On the smaller side
If you overpack, the shape gets a little weird and doesn’t hang comfortably
The laptop pocket fits an iPad better than a full-sized laptop
My Honest Thoughts on BÉIS
In my opinion, their luggage is more reliable than their viral Weekender Bag. I currently own the carry-on roller and check-in roller and haven’t had any issues with them.
The Weekender Bag, on the other hand… let’s just say I followed the trend. It’s not my favorite. I rarely use it now because the strap is uncomfortable and the way it closes is a bit awkward. Just sharing my honest experience—it might work better for others.
